SP will gain about 38 seats and win 135 seats. Congress is said to be the biggest gainer and will increase it’s tally three-folds from last year polls and get around 68 seats. BJP will improve its figures but won’t make any substantial difference to their prospects and it will end 4th with just 65 seats. Congress ally for the polls RLD will get 10 seats in Paschim Pradesh region. Major gains for SP and Congress are in Purvanchal and Awadh region, where BSP is lagging behind. BJP will do well in Paschim Pradesh as expected, but SP and BSP will not be far behind in that region. Even in Bundelkhand, Congress will gain 5 seats of a total of 19, while 9 will go to SP. The Star News poll suggests a coalition Govt. If that happens, the only viable alternative will be that SP will join hands with Congress and form the Govt under Mulayam Singh Yadav. Currently, Rahul Gandhi may be campaigning against SP in UP but we all know that if above results come true, on one pretext or another, SP and Congress will forget all animosity and suddenly become best of friends.
